A SMARTI Idea For Dial-Up Remotes

As soon as we heard about the new SMARTI telephone codec, we had a hard time imagining dial-up remote broadcasts without it.

That's because it is just, well, a smart idea. Instead of hauling around antennas, trying to line up a sight path from the studio or applying for various frequencies, why not simply dial up a standard telco line using a digital codec box?

Apparently, Marti already thought the same. Its new SMARTI uses a hybrid ISO/MPEG bit rate reduction scheme for sending and receiving 7.5kHz audio over a single phone line. It uses the latest modem speed, plus automatically adjusts for errors on the telephone line circuit.

Need we say more? Expect to see this unit on the market by summer - long before remote season hits. (Be sure to call us or access our Web page for product availability).
