The ORBAN 9200 -
AM Gets Its Digital Processor

Of all the products shown at this NAB convention, RF Specialties deemed Orban’s
new OPTIMOD 9200 to be the most significant to AM stations. It’s the first digital
AM processor to come down the pike, and by all indications, it will give AM stations
a competitive boost in the media sound wars. Among the on-air benefits of the
OPTIMOD 9200 are extended signal reach and the best possible audio quality on
voice and program material. The unit includes high-pass and low-pass filtering,a
gated AGC to prevent noise rush-up, receiver EQ to compensate for narrow-band
receivers, a five-band limiter, transmitter EQ and more. Plus, this digital processor
finally brings sanity to daypart programming as processing parameters can be preset
to synchronize with dayparts or special events. This digital AM processor got
two thumbs up from the entire RF Specialties Group.
