8mm Recorder Receives Emmy

When was the last time you had an Emmy award winner in your studio? It could happen soon. This prestigious award for the television industry was awarded to an RF Specialties product: the TASCAM/TEAC America DA-88 Hi8mm digital multitrack recorder. The award was presented on September 9, 1995, for outstanding achievement in engineering development. The eight-track tape recorder won the award in part because it offers one hour and 48 minutes of recording time in a portable 8mm format, plus it has an exceptional transport. The unit can shuttle tape back and forth from a quarter to over eight times normal tape speed, and with phenomenal precision. Call or fax RF Specialties for details and pricing on this one.

UPS Shippable Racks

The Atlas/Soundolier 900 Series rack cabinet is a smart choice because it's priced right, and fits into a compact UPS carton. RF Specialties has these frames available in 17.5" and 26.25" panel space heights. All hardware is furnished for easy assembly.

New Crown Translator

Got the translator bug? Crown Broadcast announced a new configuration option for its low power transmitter line that will make it easier to set up a translator. The new configuration option strips the composite from the incoming received signal and generates a new FM signal at a different frequency for re-transmission. Available for the Crown FM30, FM100, FM250 and FM500 transmitters, the optional configuration features a phase lock loop (PLL) circuit for excellent frequency stability and frequency shift keying (FSK) for identification purposes, a beneficial feature for satellite-fed systems. Crown transmitters are available through RF Specialties.

Sporty Frequency Extender

It's fall, time to get into the swing of sports remotes, which means engineers will be asked once again to find a frequency extender that will link remote sporting events to the studio. One good alternative for the budget is AEQ's portable TLE-02 mixer and frequency extender with built-in digital hybrid, which weighs around three pounds. Sports announcers are getting a lot of mileage out of this unit because of its high hybrid null and its digital frequency extender design that enables signals to go long distances without the "telephone sound" typical of remotes. The TLE-02 is being offered in a number of sports remotes packages by RF Specialties, so specify this unit in your request to RF Specialties.
